Ana Maria Rodriguez

Florida State Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez pulls back the curtain on what it really takes to run for office, serve a district, and stay standing while social media tries to tear you down. A Doral City Council member in 2010. Vice Mayor. Florida House Representative. Elected to the Florida Senate in 2020. Senator Rodriguez has worn almost every hat in Florida government, and she did it while raising two sons and holding down a day job at the Miami Association of Realtors. In this episode: how she got recruited into politics after saying no 10 times, the real difference between City Council and the State Senate, why running for office is "a very painstaking process," how she handles opponents and online attacks, why the next generation has to run for office, and the daily habit behind her success. MICRO ACTION: This month, attend or watch one local government meeting. Write down one thing you'd like to see happen. Then write to at least one person in that room and tell them.
